Habit
A medium-sized deciduous shrub or small tree up to 6–10 meters in height
Habitat
Found throughout tropical and subtropical regions of India — especially in the Western Ghats, Central India, and Himalayan foothills up to 1500 meters altitude. Commonly grows in dry forests, hilly areas, and rocky slopes.
Morphology
- Stem: Erect, woody, with rough grayish-brown bark.

Leaves: Alternate, trifoliate (three leaflets), serrated margins, 5–15 cm long, green and leathery.

Flowers: Small, white to yellowish, arranged in axillary or terminal panicles.

Fruits: Small, globose, red or blackish when ripe; edible and sweet.
